D-Day Anniversary in Arromanches

Every year, Normandy pays tribute to the events of June 6, 1944, which marked a decisive turning point in the Second World War.

In 2026, the region commemorated the 82nd anniversary of the D-Day landings and the Battle of Normandy, a powerful moment of remembrance and legacy that brings together visitors, history enthusiasts, and families from all over the world.

Around June 6, numerous official ceremonies, cultural events, and festivities are organized on the D-Day Landing Beaches and in neighboring towns.

These commemorations honor the thousands of Allied soldiers and civilians who lost their lives on D-Day and in the subsequent battles for the liberation of Europe.

Arromanches, an iconic D-Day landing site

Located on Gold Beach, Arromanches-les-Bains holds a central place in the history of the D-Day landings.

The town is famous for the remains of the Mulberry artificial harbor, built by the Allies in June 1944 to facilitate the landing of troops, vehicles, and equipment.

Even today, the impressive concrete blocks visible offshore serve as a reminder of the scale of this unique logistical operation.

The Arromanches Landing Museum and the Arromanches 360° circular cinema also offer a deeper understanding of this major historical event.

The D-Day Festival Normandy

Every year, the D-Day Festival Normandy accompanies these commemorations.

With a rich program of events along the entire D-Day landing coastline, from Utah Beach to Sword Beach,

for several days, visitors can enjoy numerous activities:
  • parades of vintage military vehicles
  • parachute drops
  • historical reenactments
  • exhibitions, concerts, and fireworks.
